Spring 2022

It has been all hands on deck this Spring at Castle Farm! Spring is (unsurprisingly) one of the busiest times of the year. We’ve already been preparing the farm for new arrivals and knuckling down with planting our crops.

The Twins have arrived!

Over the last couple of years, we shared lots of pictures of all our new calves at the farm and introduced you to our new Aberdeen Angus bull, Dave!

Dave has had a great year, we have two sets of twins at Castle Farm. Twins are rare in cows! Only around 1 in every 200 pregnancies results in twins – So we are over the moon to have two sets.

Enjoying our Somerset Surroundings

One gorgeous sunny Spring day, we took an afternoon walk around our farm. Spring is always so beautiful with its verdant greens, flowers unfurling and (especially) our orchards about to burst into blossom.

During the walk, we checked the progression of our wheat and potato fields. We have just planted our usual varieties of delicious, hearty potatoes. (Follow us on Facebook for details of when potatoes will be available to buy from our farm gate.)

With this spell of glorious sunny days with heavy downpours of rain, it’s been perfect growing weather. Everything is looking healthy and happy. We’re looking forward to seeing it all in Summer!
